We’re searching for a Consultant Psychiatrist of Old Age to fill a role that serves a catchment of 19,560 adults who may possibly need the service.

Sligo, Leitrim and Cavan have some of the highest numbers of older adults who are living alone, therefore we are looking for a skilled individual to join this ever-growing multidisciplinary team.

The expansion of the multidisciplinary team hopes to develop:

• Improved quality of care for older people and carers with seamless integration between Older Persons Services and Primary Care staff providing care for older people in residential units
• Reduction in unnecessary acute hospital admissions with provision of timely, integrated care-based approaches to care
• Reduction in unnecessary out of hours presentation to ED through timely care and meaningful integration with OPS and PC
• Reduction in nursing home patient presentations to ED/ambulance conveyance from nursing home to ED
• Contribution to reduction in hospital length of stay
• Training and education opportunities for healthcare staff involved in care of Older Persons, including Older Persons with Dementia
• Improved accessibility to services and enhance person-centred care &develop personalised care plans, with clear goals and outcomes measures
• Provision of a range of interventions facilitating &promoting Service User independence, and meaningful carer family involvement
• Further development of wider MDT specialist services for older persons &those with dementia living in the community

Requirements:

• Registration/Eligibility to register to IMC specialist division
• Driving license and access to a vehicle
• Interest in education
• Provide on-call services as required

Remuneration:

• 39-hour workweek
• Incremental salary €214,113-€257,193
• Up to €12,000 vouched for annual expenses for continuous medical education
• Continuous medical education leave
• Up to €8,000 per annum support for innovation projects
